These Felt Hat Blank hats are the base for you to create your own Pirate, Cavalier, Pioneer or Tricorn hat and are available in sizes M (7 1/8), L(7 3/8), & XL (7 5/8).
To determine your correct size measure the circumference around where you would wear the hat. Basically, from level with the forehead around. M size is 22 1/4 inches, L is 23 inches and XL is 23 7/8 inches.
The brim of the hat measures about 4 1/2 inches from the base of the crown to the edge and the crown is about 4 inches from the base to where it starts to curve at the top. These measurements vary from hat to hat but are always close to these numbers. The hat blank comes as pictured above.
NOTICE: MY SUPPLIER HAS RETIRED AND SO FAR I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A NEW ONE SO UNLESS I CAN FIND ONE THE INVENTORY THAT I HAVE NOW IS ALL I WILL BE ABLE TO GET. IF YOU'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT GETTING ONE I RECOMMEND YOU DO SO SOONER BECAUSE ONCE THEY ARE GONE THAT'S IT. I'M ALREADY OUT OF BLACK HATS.
The felt is a bit stiff when you first get it but it will soften up with repeated wearing and mold itself to fit the unique shape of your head. I have them in either Tan, Dark Brown, Gray and Red. The hats may differ in shades from the ones pictured like gray, brown and tan so just be aware they may not look exactly the same shade as they appear on your computer. Lighting and monitors can affect how the colors appear.
The hats sometimes have a scalloped edge to them which may be left as is or you may trim with heavy duty scissors for a smoother finish. The hats can be trimmed and cut as you desire but is not necessary. I have had orders for blanks to be used in making tri-corner or rolled edges style hats or just to use the felt cap part.
I try to keep all sizes and colors in stock for immediate shipping but occasionally there may be a week or two lag time before delivery if I've sold the last one and the new hats have not arrived yet so if you need it right away please email me first to check. Also on occasion my supplier may be out and I have to wait on him to make some more which can take longer, usually 3 weeks. The hat may be slightly bent from shipping due to the box it is shipped in but is easy to bend back into shape once taken out of the box. An iron on the lowest steam setting may be used with a cloth in between the hat and the iron for any flattening the brim may need.

I do accept requests for custom orders of snoods and bun covers. Send me a message and I can create a listing for any special order. I don't do special orders for clothing and hats sold through my website since I don't make them myself.
No, I do not sell my patterns. They are copyrighted and this is how I make my living so they are not for sale.
Yes, I made the snoods worn by Alyssa Milano on Charmed. The listing in my shop for a Net Beaded Snood Standard length is the same style that I made for the show. A replica of the Burgundy Snood she wore is the first one you'll see on that listing.
Yes, I have made several different snoods over the years for DMGM Creative Costuming with Disney, Florida. They are worn by Cinderella's dancers in the daily parade as well as several others have appeared in different productions for Disney as well as for shows on the Disney cruise ships.
The length of a snood depends on the thickness and length of ones own hair. If you have fine or average thickness of hair the standard length will work fine. My hair is average and just past the middle of my back and I wear the 8" length. I like having it up off of my back and level with my shoulders. If you'd like it to hang longer or you have longer and/or thicker hair you should go with a longer snood. I would also caution on the Net pattern that if one has very fine or layered hair you might want to choose another pattern. Since the openings are larger on this snood that type of hair may poke through the openings and look messy. A snood with smaller openings works better for ladies with fine hair.
